Meet Meghan
MEGHAN NANCE (she/her) | Counseling Intern
We’re a good fit if… you’re feeling disconnected from yourself, your loved ones, or the life you’re living. If you want to feel more, overthink less, or learn how to show up for yourself and others; we can do that together. If you’re hungry for genuine connection or are looking for new ways to (re)engage with life that generate purpose, healing, and even real joy, including tapping into your innate creativity; we can make that happen together. If you’re experiencing low moods and feeling stuck in bad habits or unhealthy relationships; we can work through that! If you’re looking to safely explore some difficult experiences in a way that allows room for you to have a sense of control, while building resilience and feeling a little lighter; we can go there together, too.
My ideal client is… someone who is navigating change (aren’t we all?) and open to self-discovery through creating, playing, and deep conversation. I’m especially fond of young people who are looking for belonging in their outer world, while developing a firm sense of self, which is so often a tricky and confusing place to be. Children, adolescents, and young adults thrive on lots of connection, with a smidge of loving guidance, and they value real, authentic relationships, which is what we can co-create together. While my ideal client is willing to learn about their brains, bodies, and behaviors, I’ll bring the energy, curiosity, and space to spark growth, and, together, we can find the goodness ahead.
I create safety and build rapport by… easing into therapeutic relationships through art and play, no matter what age you are! They’re both neglected tools in our toolboxes that spur neural connections, self-reflection, and self-compassion, as well as soothing our nervous systems. As a long-time teacher, I see people where they are and meet them there, without judgment or expectation. In sessions, I extend a compassionate invitation to just be, and I may reach, pause, lead, watch, ask, nudge, or absorb…being present for what you need, when you need it.
Three things I love: are bookstores (all the books!), snuggling on the couch with my favorite people watching any fun, mysterious, quirky new show, and walking the greenway in Charlotte. A bonus fourth is hugs - I love a really good, satisfying hug!
